New Faves 04/01/2022

Altered Images

In this latest schmear of most recent favorite musical discoveries, I find myself seeking solace in stretched out, interpretive jazz, ‘80s new wave, earthy folk and country tunes, soaring soul, and everything in between, including songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, ‘10s, and ‘20s that catch my attention and move my spirit (no question ‘80s wins hands down this round). What gives? Not sure. But when the soul suffers for lack of new music and the dreadful spring approaches, sugary ‘80s singles, cerebral jazz, bucolic meditations, and smooth vocal stylings can be just what the doctor ordered. Also, the ‘80s- the decade when I was a child- represents a time in my earthly pilgrimage when life was simpler and- like many of us- perhaps I’m just looking for a time machine. Enjoy the ride!
